The Project

'In Summer' is a short fiction film about two Turkish sisters and their father in the middle of his migration back to their home country. While living in the Netherlands conflicts arose between the sisters about cultural believes and habits. Their differences seem to grow even more after their father is gone. The film reveals a brief insight in a domestic problem occurring in more migrated Turkish families of the second and third generation.

Major Fifth got the opportunity to work outside the box. Inspired by Gustavo Santaolalla we composed a Dutch / Turkish score together with multi-instrumentalist Cengiz Arslanpay playing ney, duduk, kanun and vocals. Daan van Haren on guitar and mondolin, and Ted Loch providing vocals for a radio track being used diegetic. Many thanks to these heroes! In September 2018 the film premièred at the Dutch National Film festival (NFF).

Buma Awards - Music in Motion

In May 2019 during the annual 'Buma Awards' in Amsterdam, the soundtrack was named winner of the category "Best original music in short film and docu of 2019". Herefor Wouter received a Buma Award.
